Social Services

As members of the educational team, The Matheny School social workers assist students by identifying and addressing any social, emotional, and environmental issues that are interfering with their learning.

While promoting and supporting our student’s academic success is the social workers’ primary goal, they also monitor and facilitate the student’s social and emotional wellbeing as well as help students to develop their social skills.

Both students and their families are supported by Matheny Social Services in making the adjustment to private school and interfacing with other community agencies that may be assisting the child. Our social workers can also help to identify and facilitate access to local, state, and national resources related to summer camps, home supports, health care, housing, guardianship and transition to adult programs, as well as inter-family networking and advocacy.

If families have questions and they are not sure who to turn to, Matheny Social Services can assist with obtaining information and getting problems resolved.
