The Friends of Matheny

The Friends of Matheny is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support to Matheny. Since its inception in 1983, the organization has raised more than $3 million to support Matheny’s programs and services. Projects have included funding for a trip to Disney World, a new accessible bathtub for patients; purchasing adaptive and therapeutic equipment; funding the construction and furnishing of a special family dining room; outfitting the Matheny sports teams; providing the funding to make it possible for children and adults to attend special events and performances both at Matheny and in the community; and the donation of smart boards and other technology equipment for students and patients.

Please consider joining the Friends of Matheny. The Friends often need help at special events such as Miles for Matheny, holiday programs and graduation celebrations. New Board members are always welcome!

The Friends of Matheny also operates the Second Chance Shop. This year, the shop raised more than $100,000, through the sale of gently used items. Located at 4 Jackson Avenue in Gladstone, the shop is open Mondays from 10 am to 5 pm; Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 3 pm; and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. Donations of items in good condition are preferred on Mondays.
